Purchase Award or Patron Award Program
The purpose of this program is to have a number of patrons who are interested in supporting the arts and enjoy the purchase of fine art and craft pledge a certain amount to be spent at the Festival. When the Patron has decided upon a figure, he shall present a check to the Festival Committee and it will then be deposited into the Festival checking account. Of course, once at the Festival, the Patron may purchase more than the pledged amount.
At the time of the Festival, the Patron will pick up a "Patron" badge, as well as certificate forms and "Patron Award" ribbons to be presented to the Artist at the time of selection of the art. The Artist will be responsible for sales tax. If the cost is more than the amount originally deposited, the Patron may pay the difference directly to the Artist. If the amount is less than the total deposit, the Patron may select artwork from another Artist or Artists under the same conditions. This may continue until the pledged amount has been depleted. If a surplus remains, such funds will be retained by the Festival as a donation.
The Artist is to present his certificates to the Committee before 5pm on Saturday and before 4pm on Sunday. The Treasurer will prepare and deliver checks prior to the close of the Festival at 5pm on Sunday.
A Patron Award Program is incentive to attract fine artists and craftsmen to participate in Bakersville's Creek Walk Arts Festival and is known to be very successful.
